Hi! I'm Judy Phelps (a.k.a. Mother Eagle)! My daughter, Sara, was the Eagle mascot at Vinemont High School and she started calling me "Mother Eagle". It stuck.
I opened my first photography business over 30 years ago. (My goodness! That sounds like a long time!!) Life intervened, and photography became a hobby rather than a business. About seven years ago, I began to learn digital photography and fell in love all over again. Digital photography is even more challenging than film photography, but it is so flexible! I love having the ability to do just about anything I can think up! I often think of myself as a painter who uses pixels instead of oils.
My philosophy is that portraits are a special occasion and should be treated that way. A portrait session should make you feel special and should be fun. When you are relaxed, you will make better portraits!
In today's electronic world, we use portraits for so much more than just hanging on the wall! We use them as screensavers for our computers and add them to websites. For this reason, I charge differently than traditional photographers. I charge for images instead of prints. An image is the electronic file of your portrait. Once you approve your images, I allow the copyright to pass to you and, not only can you use the pictures on the Internet, you can have your prints made wherever you like. Of course, you can still order your prints from me if you are more comfortable with that, and I offer a full range of prints and canvases. I also want my customers to be completely satisfied with their images. I am very serious about this and will gladly refund your money or redo your session if you are not satisfied with your images.
